Tree stumps cause a number of problems, ranging from reduced curb appeal to legitimate safety risks. Elion Landscaping & Tree Service provides expert stump grinding services that will help transform your property, making it safer and more attractive.
Removing a tree may eliminate its trunk and canopy, but the remaining stump can continue creating problems long after the tree is gone. Unfortunately, grinding a stump is not always as simple as running a machine across the property — especially in the Oklahoma City area.
Property owners throughout Central Oklahoma often deal with challenges like:

Even if they look similar, every stump presents its own unique challenges. That’s why we always take the time to consider the stump, your property, and the way you use the area before getting to work. That’s the only way to ensure you will end up with the kind of results you deserve.
Whether you have a single stump or several scattered around your property, professional stump grinding helps restore your landscape, improve safety, reduce pest problems, enhance curb appeal, and free up usable outdoor space.
Businesses, municipalities, and homeowners’ associations rely on stump grinding to improve safety, maintain attractive landscapes, and prepare properties for ongoing maintenance or future improvements.
Large, exposed surface roots can create tripping hazards, interfere with mowing, and make parts of your landscape difficult to use. When appropriate, selective root grinding can help improve the functionality of your property while protecting the health and stability of nearby trees whenever possible.
Whether you’re installing a new lawn, expanding a driveway, building a patio, or redesigning your landscape, removing stumps below grade helps prepare the site for its next phase. Professional stump grinding creates a cleaner, more usable space for future improvements.
Elion Landscaping & Tree Service proudly serves the following areas:
A leftover tree stump can continue causing problems long after the tree itself has been removed. If you’re experiencing any of the following issues, professional stump grinding may be the right solution.
No two stumps are exactly alike, so the cost of stump grinding depends on factors such as the stump’s size, root flare, location, accessibility, and the equipment required to complete the work efficiently.
Typical stump grinding projects range from approximately:

Whether cleanup, backfilling, or wood chip removal is requested
Stump grinding is usually the most effective way to reclaim your landscape after a tree has been removed, but it often leaves homeowners and property managers with a number of questions. Below are answers to some of the ones Central Oklahoma property owners ask most often about the process.
Stump grinding uses specialized equipment to grind the stump several inches below the soil surface while leaving most of the root system in place to decompose naturally. Stump removal involves excavating the entire stump and root ball, making it a more invasive and expensive process.
Most residential stumps are ground 4 to 12 inches below grade, which is typically sufficient for installing sod, mulch, or other landscaping. Additional depth may be available if you have specific construction or landscaping plans.
It’s generally best to plant a new tree a few feet away from the original stump whenever possible. Remaining roots and decomposing wood can interfere with establishment, although grass, flowers, and many landscape plants can often be installed in the restored area.
We can leave the wood chips on-site, so you can use them as mulch or to fill the depression left by the stump. Alternatively, we can haul them away if you prefer.
In most cases, no. Without the stump to support new growth, the remaining roots gradually die and decompose over time. However, some tree species may produce root sprouts or suckers until the root system is fully exhausted.
While a tree stump will eventually decay on its own, the process can take many years. In the meantime, the stump may create a tripping hazard, interfere with mowing and other landscape maintenance, attract insects or other pests, and limit how you use your property. Professional stump grinding removes these obstacles immediately and prepares the area for grass, landscaping, or other outdoor improvements.
Most residential stump grinding projects can be completed in less than an hour, although large stumps and those located in tight areas may require additional time.
Whether you’re dealing with one stump or several, Elion Landscaping & Tree Service is ready to help you reclaim your property and prepare it for whatever comes next. Schedule your free on-site estimate today and take the first step toward a cleaner, safer, and more usable property.

Elion designed a new flower bed around my pool. It is beautiful. I love how it looks and I love all the plants they used. David had good ideas about what to plant and how to lay it out. I’m really excited and anxious to enjoy our back yard. The communication was great and the work was done very quickly. I would highly recommend using them.+4Posted on Google![]()

I had them come out and do a simple fix on my front planter; the brick wall was compromised and falling down. They rebuild part of the wall and it looks beautiful! I was worried it would be obvious that different bricks were used since my original brick has a white splash to it, but it’s not noticeable at all. Not to mention that I found the price very reasonable. I will definitely use them for any future needs and highly recommend.+3Posted on Google![]()

My over-50-year-old pecan tree needed a good pruning. David quickly got to work with his arborist, who gave my tree a much-needed trim and reshaping. The tree now looks much better, will stay healthy, and will look beautiful in the spring. I am pleased with the service and price, and look forward to working with Elion Landscaping on other projects. A big "thank you" to David and his crew.+0Posted on Google![]()

They did great work on our yard! It was easy to get in contact with them and the response time was very quick. The owner is very friendly and personable. We asked them to remove all the leaves in our yard, remove a few voluntary trees, and make the flower bed in our front yard look nice. The team that did the work worked really hard and did a very nice job. It was a lot of work and our yard looks fantastic.Posted on Google![]()
